Can i use anything other than a stallion bit?

to show my 8 yr old sec a stallion in hand?
he is very very well behaved at the show but does not like the bit had his teeth checked they are fine but dont kno what the alternative his very mouthy with it in and today after having it out between classes he really didnt want it back in at all poor lad so he isnt happy with it ,all advise gratefully received

I show my NF stallions in loose ring french link snaffles in-hand & ridden.

Just use a bit he is comfy with. I did find my TB hated jointed bits & much prefered a straight bar.....
