Can I wash my Nuu Med 1/2 sheepskin numnah at 95 degrees?

The hottest I've dared to wash it so far is (I think) 40 degrees, or may poss have risked 60. The trouble is, our soil is orangey in colour & Adrian lives out & loves rolling, so inevitably the underneath of the numnah ends up orange too.

It's virtually new but from washing it once, it's ended up faintly orange all over. I used to wash my cotton quilted white numnah at 95 degrees, but I don't want to wreck my nuu med.

Pretty sure the washing instructions say 40 degrees, but that just spreads the orange instead of getting it out.

I will not look dressage diva-ey enough without a sparkling white numnah

If you put it in at that temp you will shrink it and ruin it! Get some vanish oxy action and chuck that in with the detergent, it should get the worst of it out (might take a couple of washes).

use lots of Daz, Vanish, and Oxy-stuff (i use all 3 sometimes on white numnahs), and do it at 40 at the most, with a super rinse hold and rinse.
any hotter will wreck it, honestly.

Will put it in now with a good dose of Vanish. I just want it to be dazzlingly white, & it hasn't been since the first time it came out of its packet.

How do people (i.e. proper dressage divas) keep their numnahs white?? Do they use them once & then bin them???

But then, if my numnah really was white, it would make it all the more obvious that I can't get my horse properly clean either. He could do with being washed at 95 degrees...

omg i think that might b a tad hot!!!! mayb try soaking it in a wool wash before washing, i wouldnt wash on anything hotter than a 4o wash even if you have to do it a couple of times!!!

I wash all mine at 40c and tumble dry them- they are all fine. Not sure about 90c though!? I use white numnahs for everyday on horses who live out.
I always put white horsey things in for an extra rinse though or hose them first; we have red soil too, and it stains everything.

Well, I washed it at 40 with some vanish & a sachet of net curtain whitener... & it's still cream, & slightly orange on the underside.

Maybe I need a black one for everyday...

Of course you can, provided you don't mind using for a Shetland pony's saddle afterwards!
