Knobbess??
I can honestly say my mare was a total toad this morning. I had spent ages getting some jumps up and ready in the field next to the yard. (no arena). Catch in delightful horsey + yearling no probs, lead into yard. About to tie yearling up, and I am millimeters away from getting squashed by Her Knobbess. She takes fright at the jumps in the field, it may as well have been a hot air balloon landing or something SERIOUSLY scarey. Bloody bargey so and so. Poor little yearling nearly got trampled, she didn't get why Miss Knobber was being so Knobberish. I can not hold her, brute of 15hh, stallion like welsh D.
I couldn't even get the bridle on, so that went on over her headcollar. Dodging 100's of running poo's, I have to lead her out on a lunge line into the 'jumps area'. We get there - just, only to find Miss Knobber going 'oh yeah, jumps. No big deal then!!' I mean really??? All this from a 15yr old has been an eventer!
Gimme a break!!!!
I got on soon after, trotted around and jumped all the jumps as we were stepping over poles. I think she thought she'd better re-deem herself!
Horses!!!!

Trish C - I know you own THE Knobber, hope you don't mind if I can own Miss Knobber!!

The other part of her breeding is TB, absolutely no sign of anything remotely TB in todays episode!! I'd have preferred it if she went all TB on me, I can hold an uptight TB, just not a bargey sec D!

I expect they have all been 'talking' to each other, or have read ''that'' book that horses read and we can't?!

Oh that be the "how to be a complete and utter knobber" book :(

A sequel is due out: how to teach your stable mate to be an even bigger knobber.

At 2 & 5 I live in the hope that they will one day grow up :D

Mine is The Pillock. Cantering spook proof native pony along the gallops he's been too plenty of times... but what's that standing by the edge?! Argh! It's...people!! Cue The Pillock shooting sideways off the gallops in fright.

Another recent Pillock incident, merrily cantering into tyre jump he's been jumping all summer...last minute...what the fudge is that tyre thing?! One rider on the floor, one pillock stood next to rider doing best innocent face.

My sec D did grew up overnight......one day he was the knobber who deliberately looked for your feet to stamp on if you were doing some thing he didn't like, and the next he was a lovely quiet easy going chap......

He was 24 at the time and not long after he refused a jump for the first time ever. I got the vet out straight away who flexion tested him and found issues with his knees so xrayed. He was amazed that he was still sound when he saw the x-rays the arthritis was so bad.

Not the best reason to stop being a knobber but I was a tiny bit grateful. He stopped jumping but was still hacked out regularly and remained sound if a little bit stiff until he died very unexpectedly of colic 3 years later.
