Hi,

Its my first time showing next weekend and im confused wether i need to wear long boots or have my jodphur boots.. im 14 and going to be in a coloured class, it is an unaffiliated class but in the event there are affiliated classes and the evening preformance (if im lucky!) is mixed affiliated and unaffiliated. can anyone tell me what i should wear as i would hate to be disqualified. thanks! :)

It isn't correct for under 16s to wear long boots for showing. Jod boots, leather gloves and a cane. No spurs!

I thought the cut off was more horses ponies? Show ponies and small breeds (and equiv in coloured class) in short boots and intermediates/large breeds/larger WHP in long boots? And all horses in long boots?

You won't be E whatever though :)

You don't see younger horse riders at big shows with short boots  And you do see adults in short boots on small breeds and show ponies in the veterans and coloured classes.

99% convinced that if you're on a horse you wear long boots because it's like you're competing as an adult.

The 'juniors wear short boots' rule I think harks back to the days when juniors didn't ride anything over 14.2hh... Nowadays, it's less clear cut and so juniors do wear long boots if they're on a horse.
