Can oats be soaked in hot water?

Hi,

As title really, can you use hot or boiling water and soak them for less time?

Only as I ran out so didnt soak any yesterday and the tack shop just got them in now. Wondered if there was any way I could do them so ready this afternoon.

Hiya!

Yes. I often tip a kettle of boiling water over the oats for the night feed in the morning if I have forgotten. It's not ideal but it softens the husk. I put a lid on the bucket to keep the steam in.
