As the title says, can over feeding cause hair loss? Are there any feeding problems that can cause hair loss? It's part of my uni assignment and so far I have that allergies and being underweight can cause hair loss.

Thanks :)

when I got my 1yo staffie his back and hind legs were nearly bald.he was fed on bakers :( I changed his food on day one and now he has a lovely shiney coat :)

I don't know that quantity of food will cause hairloss but certainly quality might well do. But what I think can happen is rub marks from being inactive on obese animals. But I don't know if there is anything scientific in that.

As mentioned above thyroid conditions and cushings can present with hairloss and fatter (pot belly) appearance, but they are symptoms of a condition rather than because of over eating.

Environmental and food allergies are probably the most common. I've never heard of over feeding causing hairless, but the more low quality, allergic reaction causing food given, the bigger reaction, I suppose.
