Can Seasons be Induced?

As the title really. Just wondering. Because mares can have their seasons induced, but i've never heard of people having their bitches induced, so is it possible? If so, how common is it and are there any negatives to doing it?

I 'think' they can as I think I saw it once, but can't really remember what it involved-sorry!

Some years ago I had a GSD bitch who hadn't come in season at 2 1/2 years old. I spoke to the vet about inducing a season. He said it was possible but didn't really recommend it and it was quite likely my bitch wouldn't be fertile if we tried to hae her mated. So I left her and she actually came in at just over 3 years old, was mated on this her "First heat" and had a healthy litter. I think the best person to ask about this is your vet as things may have changed over the years.
