We had our 4 Yr old shod for 1st time last week. He is now winding on both feet but more so on one side. Could the shoes cause this. Should I get the shoes removed. TIA

I'm not sure what you mean by winding but if this is a change since putting shoes on, then yes it is most likely caused by the shoes/shoeing. I would probably speak to the farrier first. What are his feet like without shoes, does he really need them?

Yes - it's the unaccustomed weight that makes them wind. He'll straighten up as he gets used to them and gets stronger as he matures. Happens a lot

My experience is that I have never had and would never accept a horse dishing because it's just had shoes put on.

And I have seen several instances of dishing horses (one very severe) stop when their shoes are removed.

If they get used to shoes in time then my interpretation of that would be that the feet have balanced themselves to the shoes instead of the other way around. And if it's purely the weight then I would question whether the horse is strong enough yet to carry them.

Thank you everyone for your reply. This is him in action. Its quite severe at times. Farrier coming back to remove shoes. He definitely didn't do it prior to being shod. Screenshot_20210308_113619.jpg
