My Ish in past couple of weeks has gone a little inverted at the hip (i hope this makes sense). He's never been like this before (ive owned him 6months). What does this mean?

Does it mean he's loosing muscle condition? Hes been ridden about 2-3times a week, one hour hack mostly at walk(due to weather) and 1or 2 half hour school sessions.

A friend said its dehydration????

He looks very healthy, gleaming coat and no change with anything else.

Any advice etc much appreciated!

Sorry i havent got one, its bit difficult to photograph coz he'd black and it wont show up! Its not bad, just nipped in more than usual but he seems more than happy.

Has he lost weight? This is one of the first areas that shows up when the horse is too thin. If he's not thin then it could be muscle wastage. Level of work should not have too much effect as even a retired horse should have reasonably good muscle tone. If he's not too thin then I would suspect a back or sacroilliac problem. This can cause muscle wastage in that area.

He has lost a bit of weight not a major amount, he was a bit overweight and i have been feeding him slightly less in past 2weeks. I'm wondering if this might be the cause? Would he drop that quickly?

He's a chunky ish, 16.1hhh an currently rugged and turnout out 24/7.

I know its nothing major as everything else is perfectly normal.
