..sorry not sure of the correct terminology..
my bitch .. "did it" with another dog on the 11th day.. all went to plan etc.. all good..
have a few quiries about the rest of her season.. will other dogs still try to mount her.. if so.. what happens.. we have a monster of a dog next door who gets left out 14hrs a day when owners are at work.. he can roam.. into our garden freely.. what happens if he does it with her??.. he has been done..
thanks.. juts a bit worried about her tahts all!!

A bitch can mate with multiple dogs during a season and a neutered male can still mate a bitch.
If he has been neutered he cannot sire puppies but if the bitch is out unattended a roaming male could get to her. If he is a large dog he could damage her.

Puppies in one litter can have multiple sires.

Did you not do any research prior to breeding?
What breed?

my mum did!!.. i seem more concerned about her tho!!..but my mum said they do it back to back? .. which i didnot know as my bitch needed help to do it properly.. thanks. thats very helpful.. she is a black lab..

I find it quite scary that you are breeding from this bitch without seeming to have even a basic understand of what is happening. When dogs "do it back to back", it is called being tied. It is natures way of allowing dogs to protect themselves in a wild situation. For a successful mating the dogs need to remain tied for a relatively long time.

If you wanted your dog to be mated, I suggest you and your Mum now make sure you know what is going to happen for the remainder of the pregnancy. For your bitches sake, I hope she is not pregnant and I hope you have the sense to have the poor dog spayed so she can't have any puppies.

i do find these forums silly, how people can be so critical without knowing everything about ones life.. i am 16.. merely asking a question..i did not see them doing it!!!>. for my owns sake.. we are not stupid and would not be paying a £500 stud fee if we did not know what we were doing!!.. i am at school and it was a query!.. hells bells that was a really innappropriate comment as we have lots of outside help!

Don't get het up but just from your opening post it sounded as if you were a moron that let their bitch out while she was in season and that she got caught by a local dog. There wasn't anything to say it was a planned mating with a proper stud dog at all so don't blame others for jumping to conclusions when you made the original mistake by not stating the facts properly.

Not only can a bitch be mated again, but quite often they are keener second time around in a season, so you really need to keep a close eye on her. As said above, litters can be born with different sires, some people brought a bitch to our stud dog once and when we went to see the resulting puppies 3 out of the 7 were black and white. They swore blind she hadn't been with another dog at first, but then said she had disappeared for about half an hour one afternoon ! Nowadays they could probably have been sold for a small fortune as "border shepherds" or similar.

The stud fee has nothing to do with it. Judging by the number of 'stud dogs' a google search will churn out it's frightening how many people just want to make a quick buck. If you and your Mum do know what you are doing then you wouldn't be asking such basic questions on a forum. I actually think the replies have been quite tame. Most people have probably refrained from posting for fear of letting rip - something I am also avoiding doing.

I hope the stud has low hip and elbow scores, at that price :)
And hopefully your bitch has been x-rayed as well?

I knew what a tie was when I was a lot younger than you, but hey ho.
