As title really.

Do joint supplements really work, how do they work and what conditions do they help with.

Bone spavin, bog spavin ?

Which ones have you found to be really good?

Does a dash of oil such as olive oil make any difference to any type of arthiritus?

I know very little on the subject so any advice wouldbe appreciated :)

I've used Glucosamine powder for the past 10months, I think it's deffo helped with my old mans creaky knees. I don't think he was arthritic before but he could struggle especially when its cold.

He has two scoops a day and I stretch all four legs every single day to help maintain flexibility.

If we're going to a show and I know he might have to stand on the lorry for a while I'll give him devils claw for a few days before to help his stiff knees cope :)

Thanks sophiebailey.

What properties does devils claw have that helps?

I was wondering also if there was a natural alternative to bute or danolin?
A herb that may help with pain or inflammation?

I have to go to the horses now but will be back on this evening and hopefully there will be more reply's :D

Devils claw is the natural alternative to bute or danilon, I have found it is really good :)
I give my old girl - who has bilateral bone spavin - Mobile Mover by Equimins. It contains Devils Claw, Clivers, Nettle, Celery Seed, Chamomile, Dandelion, Burdock, Meadowsweet and Gingko, and I find that keeps her going unless its really muddy or really wet and cold which is when I give her devils claw or Danilon. Hope that helps :)

As above Devils Claw is a natural pain killer, but shouldn't be fed constantly unless you're advised to do so by a vet (most commonly for more serious joint problems) as it will just mask a problem rather than going some way to rectifying it :)

It is fab stuff and as above, if its very very cold + Bailey has to be stabled, I'll feed Devils Claw for a week or so to make him more comfortable :)
