Beautiful horse but has had/got navicular syndrome but they are looking for a competition home for him. Is this totally different from navicular as horses with navicular you can not jump etc etc sorry i dont know much about it.

But just noticed on this advertisement and it got me thinking.

Can someone explain just a wee bit please?

Navicular Syndrome is the correct name for Navicular.

Horses with Navicular can jump, it all depends on the severity of the condition and the sucessfulness of the treatments..

However, any horse with navicular is a touch and bargepole situation.

mine has navicular and is sound with eggbars and wedges, has not had injections just remedial shoes and navilox to encourage blood flow to DDFT.

I have been told not to jump her as the concussion on front legs upon landing is too much.

So i would not be buying a horse with navicular for jumping.

I know a horse with navicular which is successfully managed and he still does a full season's hunt.

Harry had corrective shoeing for his navicular and was fine hacking and dressage (by that stage I did not jump so that was not an issue).

I have 2 very sound and very capable horses with 'navicular syndrome', one of them has been hunting this season, both have been bought back to soundness through a barefoot approach. Whether you'd want to buy it depends on your approach and how you feel about it, but as for not jumping navicular horses - try telling that to my 2!

This is what i thought also.

Measles

I say the same poor horse.

Think this is why i was getting a bit confused as i wouldn't jump a horse with navicular.

ETS But then again i have never ever had a horse with navicular this is something that is some what really confusing to me. Even when i read up on it.
