I bought these clippers from eBay, they were described as Liveryman Arenas and have arrived in an Arena box but they have no liveryman branding, serial numbers or anything.... can someone clarify they are actually liverymans, I have been looking at pics on google but there seems to be a lot of variations.... if they aren't what they were described as I will be sending them back sharpish!!

Ok, well I'm glad they look like a decent make.... was terrified they were one of those dodgy chinese sets!!! I think wolseley and liveryman are pretty similar so I don't mind which they are!! Thank you!!

Sorry, but there is a good chance that these are not what they seem. All clippers should have a plate screwed on telling you the Voltage, Amperage and Make,Model and Serial Number.

I would suggest that if you keep them you get them checked for safety before using them. You may like to email the manufacturers for confirmation it is one of theirs.

Yes, they are Liveryman Arena Mk1 clippers. This model has been superseded by the Arena plus, which has a "bulge" half way down the motor body. The thing to be careful with these, is remove the air filter and run the machine, whilst looking into the filter hole, look for long streaks of sparks as the motor runs. If it has these, the armature is on the way out and these are no longer available as a spare part. Due to the age of the machine!

......there are sparks when the thingy spins round really fast..... F%"*&(^$* ing ebay. They must definatly not be 8 months old... right, I am off to email that woman... goddamit.

Anyone got a decent set of clippers they want to sell for about £100?!

Sorry - gonna sound like a school teacher now but it's true what they say that (a) you get what you pay for and (b) if something looks too good to be true, it always IS. I wouldn't buy anything electrical 2nd hand, especially if you were gonna hold it in your hand and press it up against the body of your 4-legged friend.

Send them back - they look identical to a set my mate had a long time ago and they are certainly not 8 months old or I am 21!

If you do keep them, I would certainly get them serviced before using them, but I would do this with any clippers I bought second hand before using them no matter how good they looked.
