My saddler has told me i need a jumping saddle with a thoroughbred panel in but i have never heard of this before and she has none available with one of these. what saddles have these in, any paticular makes/models can anyone suggest? I normally buy from ebay as ive picked up so many bargains but cant find any advertised with a thoroughbred panel. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I think it depends on the horse. I had one for my old TB who was happy hacker as he was never gonna b in enough work to build up.the lost.muscle. if u r getting s jumping saddle I'm guessing he will b in a reasonable amount of work so u prob better off getting normal sadle with prolite pad/gamgee to fill in the gaps and u cam alter regularly. Panels tend to prevent the horse gaining muscle in those areas. That's wot my master saddler and a Bowen therapist (also a saddle fitter) both said. X

my mare is 8 and a fine irish sport horse, ive had her since he was 3 but for some reason she is still bum high (unfortunately ive been told its a conformation fault) she is in medium work, schooling, hacking and jumping and is beefing up a bit but is fairly hollow behind the wither so my saddler suggested a thoroughbred panel saddle to help her downhill movement towards the wither.
many thanks i will have a browse.

Mine was £540 new from Andy wheals - saddler, but was stolen, so is out there somewhere!! Fab, comfy saddle. Think I would personally go for multi pro lite pad tho if still muscling up. Saddler best to advise, as u are already doing. Hope u find something. X
