I'm taking my new horse to a show and the only class I can do is riding horse in hand.

What do I need to wear? Jacket or waist coat?

Also do I put my mare in a double bridle or just a snaffle bridle?

Thanks

It would be useful to know what classes you are intending to enter as handlers of some breeds tend to wear different clothing to handlers of hunters for example.

Tweed jacket with shirt & tie, trousers that contrast to the horses legs (my bay - I have beige, and my grey I have navy)

Brown gloves, a cane if you feel you need it, and boots you can run it.

I wear a beagler.

Horse is best in a double bridle, with a noseband that is flat & wide enough, RH's wear coloured browbands.

Sister did inhand riding horse classes to chill her TB out before she did ridden classes, and this is what she just wore a tweed jacket, nice tie and shirt, dark beige cords and brown jodphur boots. He was in his snaffle bridle. They won most of their classes, so can't have been too wrong (this was only at local level though, but with pretty good judges).

It's the horse being judged not the handler. I agree with CrazyMare. If horse is a novice it will be ok to show in a snaffle bridle.
