Hi, this is a follow to my last topic called Can You Help? (if you havent read this topic it will be at the bottom of this post) about the atuall work.

So after taking advice for the amazing CatStew i looked up about "Young People and employment" on this website - http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/...employment.htm. It says all the basic infomation but not what specific work under 14's can do. I think what i want to do should be legal from the descriptions it gives but i'm not postive. So once again i'm looking for your help!!

Please post, any infomation i would be extermly gratefull for. i just want to make sure that what i want to do is atually legal. Also, regarding the post at the bottom, do you think the prices i posted are OK or to expensive or to cheap?

Thanks again.

P.S. Can You Help?:
I was just wondering if anyone knows the minuimum age, for someone i.e. ME!, to go to other yards to groom/wash/clean/pamper etc someones horse/s???

I have just devolped an amazing technequie and i am very egar to use to! My mum said she would be more than happy for me to do this. My dream is to do this, sort of. But i'm almost 12 and i can't even get a small job yet.

I hope someone can tell me. My mum has said that she will drive when where i need to go when i can get this job.
At this point in time i am grooming quite a lot of the horses at my yard for free.
Can someone maybe tell me what i should include in my ad when i post it?

I was thinking maybe £5 for 14.2hh and under i.e. ponies and £8.50ish for 14.2hh +. Of course giants like 18hh i might need a stool (i'm 5ft 3", so not bad)!!!

P.S. Most people last time i posted this didn't read my first one and kept complaining about my age. As i stated in the other post i would not be working NOW. It would be when i was 13-15 sometime. I would have started my NVQ 1 or 2 then (should be one). I would happily let people come and see me first before they let me work. Even interview! I am getting comments from all the people at my current yard who's horses i groom. Also i would put down the price. Maybe £3 for 14.2hh and under and £5 for 14.2hh plus. I would be bring all my own equiment unless the owner was not happy with that. Then i would only charge £2 for 14.2hh and £3.50 for 14.2hh plus.

Thanks

I know you can work on a yard from the age of 12 in the UK. Obviously there is no minimum wage for people under 16. You wouldn't be making a huge amount of money or working long hours so I don't see why there would be a problem with what you want to do. The price you have given kinda depends on how much work your going to do and where abouts in the country you are. If its full on professionally done groom and clean I reckon your prices sound ok considering you are going to them. Have a look in your local area or on the internet and see if anyone else is offering a similar service and compare them to your prices. Good luck.

when I was 12 I used to help at the local riding school, I had to work 2 days and then I got a free ride, which in those days was about £8per hour haha!

good luck finding people that have enough money to pay out for someone to groom their horses!

There is no minimum age to work, but you must have permission from your local education authority. There are loads of rules about employing someone under 16 - how many hours, what sort of work etc.

If you look on your local county council website and put "Child employment" into the search box it will bring up the forms etc.

If you don't have permission to work from your LEA the person who employs you can get into massive trouble. It really isn't worth it.

Thank you sooo much! You have been extremly helpful compared to everyone else! I will take your advice! Thank you again!

I remember your last post on this, and have to say i dont remember anyone being unhelpful!! Bit rude dont you think, as people went out of their way to try and help you!? :(
