One of the girls was looking through buds passport when we had the dentist and telling me about his bloodlines? I don't really know anything about them as I like geldings so can't breed from them! His sire was Colin diamond? I know that's a king of diamonds line and is really common :-) but his dams side has clover hill on? I've been told they're the 2 notifiable ones to mention, so what are typical traits of these? And does anyone else have a pony with them? I've had him 8 years and never really looked into it. Just hoping someone can educate me, its always nice to find out something new about pony :-)

Clover Hill lines can be quite sharp. KOD kind, gentle and very clever.

That is such a generalisation. Both Clover Hill and King of Diamonds are several generations away with many sires and mares in between. I have a Clover Hill bloodline gelding who is the sweetest, sensitive, most sane and kindest little fellow ever and I have a mare who's sire is Colin Diamond like the OPs horse and she is a real character, quite sane but can be a right wagon - she is exceptionally clever, has the memory of an elephant and does try to please but only if it suits her. She does have a kind side and is protective of my miniatures and a real character.

Colin Diamond is a big black rangy type ISH by Diamond Lad out of a Colinstable xx mare. Colinstable was by Final Problem xx who was a very pre potent sport horse sire.
He gets mainly eventers, a good lot of jumpes too, but not show animals as they tend to be very like him-big and athletic and rangy horses as opposed to more compact 'rounded' individuals.
He is a popular sire and still standing. I have seen a good few, and they are nice types. I have seen a good few Colin Diamond x Loughehoe guy young ones and they are a really nice cross.
Og and Diamond Lad was by King of Diamonds who requires no introduction and is one of the legendry pillars of Irish draught breeding! There is, IMO, more quality in teh Diamond line than the Clover Hill one, as Clover Hill, whilst he got a serious lot of jumpers never really left a significant stallion son behind him, anywhere near as prepotent as he was. King of Diamonds left several, and his influence carries on in his grandsons, even great grandsons. It is a very dominant line.
Colin Diamonds tend to be quality, he stamps his stock well. Lucky you having one!
Oh here is his stud website:

My wife's horse is by Colin Diamond x Balinvella x Clover Hill so closely related to your horse! Marmite has been a fantastic horse. His temperament is fantastic, definitely one in a million! He show jumped in Ireland before being brought over to England. We bought him and my wife uses him for dressage. I think he would rather be jumping, but he doesn't mind going around in circles! :) Ill post a picture.
