I am told that if you lose your job the best way to find work is by networking finding likely contacts and sharing information etc.

So what are the chances of success if u do this in the horsey world and just to put two questions in the same post anyone had success with wanted ads or is it a magnet for dodgy contacts ?

I found my perfect horse by 'networking' on here lol, so yes it definitly does work. Actually my mums horse we got through friends/contacts and our old 2 boys who we kept for 8-20years and are now deceased were through networking and friends of friends. I don't think any of our horses were found through an advert..nope none!

Yes Definitely. Some of the nicest, most genuine horses that are on our yard were found by word of mouth only.
And when I was looking last year, it was suprising how many people, put me in touch with horses they know for sale, but which weren't advertised!

I found mine through Facebook, my YO had joined a group and on her newsfeed it had a comment from a lady to the group describing her Horse. Yo though she sounded lovely for me and emailed the lady and asked for number. Turns out she was only 15 mins up the road form me too.

I found Andy through a wanted ad - I did get a lot of nonsense responses as well though.
I found Dixie through here - not anyone advertising, but another user's comments on a loan thread (I decided just to loan this time). I PMd her and we hit it off and I was lucky enough that she lets me loan one of her horses - he is just what I was after - actually no he is turning out to be more than what I was originally after :) Not only have a I found a brill horse, I have also found a brill friend :)

I have a couple for sale (bred to be sold), & will happily pm any wanted ads that are along the right lines their details. I'd rather say this is what I have, so they potential buyer knows I'm not lying to fit their ideal. If it happens mine aren't what they want, then neither of us have wasted much time & that's good.

Yeah defiantly. My horse who I've had for 7 years and still absolutely adore was through word of mouth. We werent even looking when we found her! But her owners didn't want her to go to just any person, they wanted her to go somewhere safe and permanent

Not me personally but my sister found a lovely horse on loan from a HHOer.

We first got in contact through a thread we had about my sisters poorly horse as he had a rare condition and it turnt out she had one with the same thing at the same time, then we found out we share the same vet and farrier. was a bit odd really.

And when our horse was put to sleep a few months back, we now have a lovely mare on loan from her. Shes become a fab friend and helped us and given us so much support.

shes introduced us to loads of people and i know when were in a position to buy again, with her help and connections/networks we will find something perfect.

First time I met her was when I helped move her 15 horses, until then she was a cyber friend and now she cant get rid of me,actually us,my sister aswell.

feel like ive know her years when in facts its only a few months.
