Hi
My horse has osteoarthritis in one of her hind hocks, she copes well with work, we do not do any jumping and i only ride her a maximum of 3 times a week and she lives out. (gentle hacking)...can anyone recommend a joint supplement like no bute or similar...there are loads of different ones on the market, but i would like to hear from people who actually see good results from theirs and what they use.

Thanks in advance!

Bute-x from Global Herbs is brilliant and very quick acting. Not for the fussy eater though as it is seriously pungent.

One of mine has arthritis in his left foreleg. I spent two years going through everything on the market, ie. Cortaflex, Cortavet, Synequin, Cosequin, Supplease Gold, Equiflex, Superflex, Newmarket Joint Supplement, Devil's Relief, No Bute etc etc (I could go on!). I then tried Alpha-Bute by Global Herbs - 1 heaped measure a.m. and p.m. and he came sound after 5 days! Don't ask me why, but that product obviously suits him and his particular problem. It's defo worth a try!

I used equine america's buteless's on my boy who has artritis in his hocks.. He was unsound without bute but came sound with the buteless. Brilliant stuff i highly recommend it. It is also very reasonable priced.

the main ingrediant in alpha bute is boswellia - you can buy it on its own cheaper than alpha bute -
look on ebay shops.

I use something with my mare called no bute - which is a herbal treatment in a liquid and it really helps her - she kept getting really stiff in her stable and had some problems with her legs during the summer and this just really seemed to help :) x

I used super-sound on my boy, it's in liquid form, about €26 per bottle. You go through a lot of it for the first 3 weeks, building it up in their system, after that it's just one dose a day to maintain it!!! Kept him sound for months!!!!!!!

I use Boswellia Serrata (I think that's what it's called!) - AKA Frankincense. As recommended by peeps on here, for my Shetland pony who has arthritis in his knees.

It has helped immensely. He's much more keen on running about again. I've just bought some more from Natural Horse Supplies. It's apparently double strength so can feed half.

The first lot cost £20 and has lasted him about 8 months! But then he's only 8hh.

Whatever, it's remarkably cheaper than anything branded, and it has worked for my boy.

Ive had really good results (to the point that I got bounced off for the first time in years!) with equine answers premier flex plus.
Its firstly a joint supplement but contains devils claw at a high dose. It works out cheaper than most of the natural painkiller supplements and you're feeding a joint supplement too.
