Can you beat my vets bill?

So after a few years of rather large vets bills, my latest has come in…

£24 for a blood test! (We travelled there as it’s close and they have coffee 7 year old also picked up a colouring sheet)

Is this the smallest equine vets bill known to mankind?

In the grand scheme of things it didn't count, but during Willy-gate (he of the £16k vet bill fame), on one of my emergency visits to the vet I was in such a mess the vet took pity on me and said she wouldn't charge for that consultation and simply went on to arrange the emergency referral. Naturally I burst into tears with gratitude. Small wins. Came back down to earth when I paid the credit card bill, though...

Mine was £16 a couple of weeks ago for our large referral vets practice for a dogs nail cut.

Ours has a coffee machine too! It's not TW you went to is it?

I did pay about £5 for a bag of sharps with drawn-up antibiotics for a chicken sometime last year. Thought that was a bit of a bargain

£5.15 for a thing of eye drops. It was before I had BACs and i used to pay by sending a cheque. I couldnt be bothered to write such a little cheque and kept meaning and forgetting to call in and give cash. Because it was so small I just kept pushing it to one side and got a pretty angry accounts lady on the phone telling me i was seriously taking the piss She was of course right! it was just so small It seemed really unimportant!

Shop around a bit. Our fairly big dog was only £450 a few months ago. A friend took hers to another area as the vets quoted half the price of her own.

Do freebies count? I had one of those but only because my old vet didn't get to me until 10 o'clock in the evening because he got caught up elsewhere and didn't phone to let me know. I suspect he actually forgot all about me but to be fair he was lovely and was getting very long in the tooth by then.

Yikes!! I just had my routine rasp bill for my horse including sedation and was £160 I thought that was bad

Love to hear these stories, I think vets get a lot of flack in a very tough climate.
