I took my horses to a new yard on Monday, relaised i had made a massive mistake..... but thats by the by.....
I had phoned her to say that i was going and she said
'by the way Checky has been kicked, cant stay in cos he will get stiff, brought him in, hosed it and put some tea tree gel on and put him back in the field'.
Okay - so you will be thinking.... what a nice YO!!! Considering when i got theere she was anxious for vets name, number and my mobile which id given her.
BUT...... Went down the yard expecting a little cut/graze etc.
AND I FOUND a gouge out of his knee with his knee twice the size and swelling half way up his radius bone!!!!!
Moved horses immediately back to old yard as she would have kicked off if i had gotten vet - she said a salt water clean twice a day and all would be fine in 10 days (WHATEVER).
Vet came first thing and obviously its infected, hes on box rest for 10 days, antibiotics and needs it bandaged. Hes not allowed bute because his lameness needs to be monitored (if it gets worse then something more serious has to be investigated).
Im soooooo p i s s e d off - it may not have got so bad had she rang and told me, and i could have got the vet ASAP.
What is it with these old school equestrians????
