Can you bury your horse at home?

It sounds like you have to do it "the right way" and make enquiries, thus risking authorities declining the application or just do it and hope no one notices! Depends on your conscience I suppose but if the land is yours and the plot is away from underground pipes, water etc I'd just do it.

If you're using a farmer friend, remember they may view your horse differently. My partner didn't think anything of "dumping" a pony into the grave we had dug as it was "dead anyway" from the digger bucket. Some of the helpers were a bit distressed about it all tbh.

I sometimes worry that if I develop a bit of a limp I might get knocked off to save medical bills! :D

...and then dumped in a hole out of the digger bucket?:(

Fiona - in your old role as a funeral director, did you ever get any unusual requests? I did laugh at the thought of Tonibird taking ill, being done away with and ending up being tipped out of the digger bucket :p
Ps. Yes, a definate danger of horse being unceramoniously disposed of thanks for the point there Tonibird (and for your story which was funny in a horrifying sort of way!) Father in Law is the farmer so I will have a word when the time comes (and will check out about the water courses). I couldn't have my horse turned into a diamond and never personally fancied cremation so burial it is.
