My friend has just brought a horse that she said has sweet itch, but when I came away from the yard I noticed a red lump on my arm, it doesn't itch at the moa ( It happened Friday ) but hurts a little if you put pressure on it.

How would you know the difference between sweet itch and mange?
And can it be passed on to Humans?

Thanks

Ringworm starts as red bumps too - I know because some gorgeous little Greek kittens left me with it last month lol.

Keep an eye on it and if you are worried go to a Pharmacist and get them to take a look. Caneston clears up ringworm.

ETS it could just be a mozzie bite though!

Not mange I don't think. It's species specific but as hedge says, ringworm a distinct possibility. I wouldn't have thought you'd have symptoms as quick as that tho.

Thanks Hedgewitch13

I'm hoping it is just a mozzie bite, but it hasn't been itching, that's why I'm getting a bit paranoid about it.

OK, I will pop in to Boots and see if they can have a look, thanks. :)

If you're worried then I'd be inclined to get the vet out ASAP!!!

I know there is something called Demodectic mange and also Chorioptic mange; sorry don't know the difference.

Any vet nurses/vets on here???

OR of course it could be ringworm - which is catchable by humans, but IMOif you're concerned enough to think that you might catch something nasty, whatever "it" is, then that's concerned enough to call the vet TBH.
