I imagine the answer is no, but I can't find anything on the Weatherbys website. I have a young horse with a terrible name, he was in training but never raced. I'm pretty sure once they're raced they're stuck with the name, but wondered if because he never raced it might be different?

No... once the name is in there, it's in there.

There used to be a couple of PIO that would let you change the name... but these were going back a few years and this may have changed by now

Hi - yes you can - or at least you can whilst it's in training as I was going to change the name of one of mine but in the end I decided it was too expensive. This was about 3 years ago. It's worth asking the question of Weatherbys any way.

Yes, you can.

I bought my horse 4 years ago, and his name on his passport was "Big Ears" but his name had been changed to something more suitable, so I got it changed. Cost me £11!

Goodness - I must have been talking to the wrong person! I was quoted £250! - just thought I'd add this in case people thought I was a skinflint that didn't want to pay £11 :)

I've just had an email back from Weatherbys, very swift! Apparently I can change his name, it has to be approved and costs £92 to do so. Optimissteeq, that price looks like the cost of a first name registration? Whereas my horse is already registered so I guess they don't have to check the vet details, markings etc... who knows!

Oooh- interesting. My ex-racer has a terrible name- she did race though. Presumably that means it can't be changed? I assumed we were stuck with it?
