Can you help with some research (very unscientifically) ?!

Where does our website appear if you do a google search using some of the following terms and area: Riding lessons, riding school, Devon, Plymouth, Dartmoor.

On what page does Cheston Farm EC appear?

My dad does the website and we think maybe it is time to get a professional in! Your opinion if you find us is also most welcomed

Thanks.

Number 4!

I like the website, everything you need to know and easy to use, if a little slow.

I like the site too. :)

The only thing I would say, is can someone keep the events list up to date? It's showing Dec and Jan. So many sites don't keep things up to date, and it looks bad to anyone coming onto the site. I'd also put the year as well as the date and month. Often on sites the list is so out of date you can't even tell what year the events were in!

If there's nothing upcoming, a notice saying why with a few "Recent events" as example make it more likely people will come back to check later. :)

You did not appear on the first two pages for me when I tried the following, riding on Dartmoor, or horse riding Plymouth, or riding school Plymouth. I tried a few of their directed links too, and nothing came up for you easily.

Typed in your address and up came your lovely website no prob. Looks a great place.

I remember years ago (?2008) the owner of a Riding Centre I had gone to in Wales said he was paying someone, an IT person, can't remember exact job spec, might it have been Google representative, £2000 (two thousand) per month so their site came up at the top for lots of searches. I'm not overly techno minded so don't know how all this works. I thought it was incredibly expensive but I suppose not if everyone goes to your site first and you get the customers.

"riding school, Devon, Plymouth"

Brings it up as top result.

Although one thing I did notice is that on your "For sale" page, it says "grapewine" not grapevine. Galleries only has 1 'r' in it too (There are two in the page name in the internet tab). :)

Good point about the date/year at top of homepage events list! Am on to dad to update it - always toooo much to do!

Appreciate everyones feedback! :)

Crikey - eagle eyed or what! Spelling errors I have not spotted in years of looking at website! Will have to get you lot to proof read for me more often!

Keep looking - most helpful!

When I googled for riding lessons or riding school, Devon, Plymouth, Dartmoor, the first four results was sort of not individual pages, without links to pages with lists of several different riding options in the area.
I didn't find Cheston Farm in the first three suggested links ( http://www.bramblesguide.co.uk/horseriding.htm , http://www.equinetourism.co.uk/ukre...rectorypages/ukequestriancentressouthwest.asp or http://www.yell.com/super/riding+schools/devon?sem=g&cam=g&refcd=GO480T000765634S&tsacr=GO3049967717 ) and I don't know if it would be worth trying to get on those lists or not.

But if Cheston Farm EC is the same as Cheston Equestrian Centre - Exeter, Devon , then I found you in the fourth suggested link ( http://www.hotfrog.co.uk/Companies/Cheston-Equestrian-Centre , found through this link http://www.hotfrog.co.uk/Products/equestrian-centre/Devon ). However, please note that in that Cheston EC link, it says that there is no website or email provided!

Cheston Farm Equestrian Centre in itself ( http://chestonfarm.co.uk/index.html ) was number nine on my first search page.

From what I've heard, google has some way of calculating the likelihood of that either this or that page is what I'm looking for, and one of the components is the words you use on your page. But, for instance, there is no point in just adding a page on the website with Devon, Devon, Devon... written over and over again, because then google will nowadays pick up on that you've just repeated a word, but without adding anything relevant.

Please note that I'm from Sweden, so I apologise in advance if I'm using Devon in a weird way, but for example, I would perhaps change this sentence
"Cheston is one of the best equestrian facilities in the region"
to
"Cheston is one of the best equestrian facilities in the Devon region".

And/or perhaps change this
"Now add in some of the best moorland and lane hacking in the country all on the doorstep and you have an exceptional centre for the horse and rider!"
to
"Now add in some of the best moorland and lane hacking in Devon, or the country, all on the doorstep and you have an exceptional centre for the horse and rider!"

Another example, on the Bed&Breakfast page, I would perhaps change
"Accommodation at the centre is available staying with us in our newly renovated old stone farmhouse. The 16th century Cheston Farmhouse had seen many years of neglect and has just undergone a major 14month renovation to make it a truly gorgeous place to stay.

With first class staff, indoor and outdoor arenas and access to Dartmoor, we can build an itinerary to suit every level of horse and rider.

You could chose to build your stay around a programme of lessons, take part in our competitions and clinics, arrange a day with the Dartmoor Fox Hounds or take a trip out to gallop on the moor or along horse friendly beaches."

Just remember to not exaggerate, it shouldn't become tedious for people reading the pages, only because google maybe pays attention to how often certain words/word combinations, like riding school, riding lessons, Devon etc. occurs on a website.

Other than that, the website wasn't working slow for me, as mentioned by someone else I did miss a link to a price list and ditto Mandwhy, if it isn't broken, don't fix it.
