Ive read about being able to downplate a trailer, but can you also do it to the car?

For example, the hb403 has a gw of 1600kg and an actual weight of 767kg - meaning you could down plate it to say being able to carry a 700kg horse, plus the trailer giving a gw of 1467kg.

Now... if your car weighs 1820kg, with a gw or max permissable of 2265 - could you down plate the car to say 2033kgs?

Meaning the car can still be laden with 213 kgs for person/fuel.

Ive read this -

But seems to relate to hgvs only?

Just a musing really. :p *goes off to book trailer test and stop procrastinating about gws :p*

Vehicles and trailers under 3500 kgs GVW/MAM are dealt with by the manufacturers so it seems reasonable that to down plate the GVW of a vehicle would mean contacting the manufacturer to do so

Whether or not that manufacturer would assist is another matter ....
