Can you guys settle a disagreement! (Flash Straps)

Would a discount for owners for mutiple horses attract you? ie 10% off per add horse?

Friend and I were having friendly banter as to which way up the flash strap should go, ie the end pointing upwards and tucking in near the top, or pointing downwards and ending under the chin.
Wo which way do you have it?
And why do you have it that way?!

I was always taught that it was correct for it to point downwards if it had a keeper (the loose one that always goes missing), and if no keeper then upwards and put through the keeper on the main noseband!!!

Hope that makes sense!!

Always do mine upwards!

ETS, if it's put in the other way, it tends to fall out and then the little keeper gets lost and I HATE to lose anything

Thank you, thought I was going batty!! I always had it so all of your buckles go in the same direction, the same as when mum is being really picky (PC areas) even the buckle on the reins had to go the same way!!

When i clean them i slways lose the keepers, so put it upwards. I also prefer it with mothing around the mouth, with my flashes if the point downwards they go past it and to me look strange

Whats your opinion E?

i always tend to have it pointing upwards

*pepares to be shot by people who have it downwards*

but i can see it would probably look neater downwards...but i HATE losing the keeper if it goes downwards...:) xx

Downwards is practicality and technically correct - all buckles on a snaffle bridle should hang on the off side of the horse inc. reins other than the obvious.

Upwards is both inconvenient and fashionable nonsense

.

I put upwards.. However it all depends on the strap and the keepers..
On Ernie's smart dressage bridle, the flash strap is short, and the keepers are tight, therefore i have it downwards because it keeps neat and tidy.. however, most the time i have it upwards.

Downwards, part of my OCD as all the other buckles on the bridle points downwards

I do make sure that all keepers don't put pressure anywhere though and that the keeper is in a place that the strap can't come out because that irritates me an unbelievable amount

How do you lose the keeper if you put it on downwards I'm confused . . . . . . . . . . . . as ever though
blush.gif
. Surely if you put the keeper on the flash and then the flash through the flash - thingmabob then you don't lose it?

Upwards and the end can then be tucked into the loop on the noseband. I find if they go downwards the buckle and keeper are sitting right on the horses mouth.
My ex boss (an olympic dressage rider) always did them upwards for this reason, if it's good enough for her.......!!

upwards... so the keeper doesn't rub the sensitive skin around the muzzle.

tucked into the noseband attachment it isn't untidy at all

Downwards, just because it's easier, looks better and well gravity an all

Gosh all these people using flash nosebands, apparently all our horses must have dental/bitting probems and we are too lazy to get the bottom of the problem
