Can you help me find a drop noseband?

Hi all

Looking for a drop noseband. A has a skiiny head:

So he needs full size in length but not sure if a full size would be too wide for his nose? Can you help me find something that might fit?!

(looked at lots of second hand in local tack shops and cob size just isn't long enough)


PS can I still use a full cheek snaffle with a drop?

I had a nightmare finding one for B, they are as rare as hens teeth 2nd hand and the cheaper imported ones (Shires etc) are stupidly short over the head. In the end my local saddler ordered me a Dever one, nice quality, good fit and about £30 so not too expensive.

Both mine are sabre ones, really good fit for my MW ISH. Cost £40 but lovely leather, nice and soft and after approx 2 years both still look like new.

His bridle is Sabre, so I shall have a look as it should in theory match the bridle (though if it isn't quite the same colour we'll live!

I've ordered a stubben one for Wibs (who doesn't seem to have a 'long' head as my old pony's bridle fits him, but when trying to get him a double it was a nightmare as everything was too short!) and it is here, I just can't collect it till I get my uni card Can let you know how it fits over the weekend hopefully - it was only £2.50 on ebay

hopefully should work with your sabre my boy has sabre bridle as he has a long face & skinny nose and I bought a full headpiece and a cob grackle noseband from my saddlery they were sold separately so you could specifically pick what noseband type you wanted and size . Glad you posted I want to try a drop noseband with my lad so will defo look for a sabre one now (hadnt thought about it..doh! ).

I bought a cheap robinsons one in cob size - very long over head and small enough around nose -

Similar shape head to your horse.

Thought it was going to be awful quality, but wasn't actually that bad (not as bad as the rest of their leatherwork I've seen) and was the best fit of all I tried - fits better than the albion and kieffer I have

You can get adjustable dropped nosebands but not sure I've seen them on European or even UK sites:

Or go to someone like Kate Negus and have one made to measure - my colleague at NP custom makes all sorts of leather bit (Clive Whereatt SMS) as does cremedemonthe, I'm sure they could copy pics of adjustable ones.

I got one off of ebay,was cheap & brand new.
I'm fairly sure its robinsons but nice leather-had it a few years now & it's nice & supple & cleans up well.
My TB has a long but fine head-it's a cob size & fits well.
I'm sure you can use them with full cheeks.

Mine is Kate Negus - beautiful quality and m2m so fits really well as like yours she has an ickle nose relative to her long head! Would very much recommend!
