Ok, here's my situation. I have a young mare who's been diagnosed with wobblers as a result of a fall. Had very correct paces and sound temperament and vets have assured me there's no risk in breeding from her. She had injections into the joints and I am finally seeing some improvement (but very unlikely that she will come right for more than hacking).
I can put the mare in foal to a sj stallion (free covering) but would probably not want to keep the foal. Mare's breeders have offered swap the mare for a yearling with similar breeding, not as nice as the mare and not as nice as the foal the mare would have.
If it wasn't for the recession, I would definitely breed but I'm worried about the job and being stuck with another horse next year if I can't sell the foal.
However, I would not want to keep the yearling either, so I'd have to get him sold.
And while I would breed a second foal from the mare for me to keep, I would not want to keep breeding but would be worried about selling the mare...
This has been going on for ages and I keep changing my mind so any advice would be greatly appreciated....
