Can you help me with saddle suggestions for my NF mare?

Oh thank you. She is a sweetheart. Yes quite long in the back with lots of shoulder. I have tried my friends saddles on just to get an idea; wintec - no good, Kent and Master GP 17' no good, Bates 17' GP no good. Not the best selection. But I was hoping to get a reasonably priced Wintec or Thorowgood saddle to do for now. Not sure if anyone has had an experience with NF's and saddles!

Thanks. I am considering the t4 cob which I used on my welsh d. It seems I can't find a saddler in the south east who is willing to come and look at her with view to selling a second hand saddle which is a shame

I have a new forest and have had humongous saddle problems- still am. All the saddles you mentioned didn't work on mine. I bought a native pony and cob saddle and while its stunning and the saddler has tried his best with it after 2 months it started moving massively within 10 min of riding in it. He's been up several times to rectify and nothing as of yet waiting to see if he has something else on Wednesday! Gfs also didn't work for mine- nf are some of the hardest to fit apparently! Good luck I've been trying since August last year!!!

I have heard the same. Very difficult to fit. Previous owners said she has a buck in her but I think this is from an ill fitting saddle, they had a wintec on her and I can't find a suitable one to fit now. I have heard (and you might have seen my thread) that treeless is the way forward

I have a New Forest x cob which is still growing, so saddles are a nightmare. I've got an Ideal Working Hunter one which is great and according to my saddler fits perfectly, but I've still got some slippage problems!
I took a Barnsby wide GP from the saddlers yesterday to try today. NO slipping whatsoever. Unfortunately the stirrup bars dug horribly into my inner thighs - they are huge clumpy stirrup bars, and for me the saddle just wasn't comfortable - fits horse like a glove though! Was thinking of asking the saddler if i can buy it and get him to fit different stirrup bars, but even without the stirrup bar issues, it was a horribly uncomfortable saddle.

When mine is fully grown I want an Ideal H&C for her - they're supposed to be great for natives...

Ours was also a problem, wintec didn't fit, nor did various other makes.
We ended up with a thorowgood t4 cob saddle, which can be adjusted when she changes shape.
She is quite a bigger, more work msn like nf than some of the finer ones, and that seems to be the problem, having been mistaken for a welsh cob at one show!! She is nothing like one, of course!
