Hi all, with the looming threat of another lockdown I just wondered what this means for people looking at potential purchases? I'm assuming if we are locked down we cannot view horses for sale? If you find something you like now but can't collect it till the hypothetical lockdown period started are you able to collect them or would you have to wait till after the lockdown? Will vets do a vetting?

Last time we weren't in this position so I'm not sure what the rules said last time around. I know there isn't much we can do about it but would be good to have an idea what our options would be! Thanks

I would say your guess is as good as mine. No way anyone can predict what might happen or be allowed. Just have to wait and see.
I know...its all so uncertain I just wondered what the rules were last time we had a lockdown but I guess it could be different this time (if we have one!)

This whole nonsense of buying unseen started in the first lock down and never went away ,and horses were moved around as before, so I think you will he fine to move them.

People were paying professional transporters to take animals of all kinds around the country, as the professionals were allowed to continue working. So if you have already agreed to buy a horse, that would be the solution.
OK thanks, we'd never buy unseen it was just in case we went into lockdown between seeing and buying!

The first lockdown was super strict though. That was the 'only leave your home once a day or for essential purposes' lockdown and walkers in the middle of nowhere being hounded by police drones. Vets would not do routine work. Lots of YOs banned liveries from doing their own horses. I think there will be some restrictions brought in but I can'tt see a return to that so I am sure viewing, vetting and moving horses will still be fine.
