Can you recommend a farrier and equine vet in Leics?

Hi all, I am moving to Leics this month and my pony Molly will be at a yard in Tilton on the Hill. I need to register her with a vet and find a new farrier. Will ask at my new yard when we arrive but would also welcome thoughts from anyone local.

So who would you use/avoid?

I use town & country for my dog and friend has her dogs and horses with them in market Harborough. There's a place in Oakham that is hot on equines. Think it's an actual equine hospital. The fernie sometimes have events at Tilton on the hill so a nice spot :)

Oakham Vets, brilliant :) not sure about farriers as I'm in South Leics, have a look on the Welland Valley Feeds website

Thanks, I think Oakham might be the one to go for. Farrier wise I'm after recommendations rather than just contact details - I've got a list of all the registered farriers - but I want to know who is good and who isn't :)

Hi vet recommendations would be either Crescent vets in Melton or Oakham Equine Vets. Farrier wise I used to use a lad that was from the animal defence centre I believe his name was Ben. I got his number from CWG now Mole Valley in Melton and he was fantastic, I had a couple from of farriers from the defence centre and was always very happy. Mr Gulley at Thorpe Satchville was always good but expensive. Good luck :)

Second Chine House, lots of experienced vets and a European Specialist soft tissue surgeon. In terms of facilities, quite similar between them and Oakham. Majority of the farriers are good although I would say that getting an appointment with Martin Deacon verges on the impossible...!

I'd recommend farrier damian Williams as well, lovely guy, great with the horses and as another poster said he's always on time and often early! he's worked wonders with my retired thoroughbreds feet :) I use chine house vets and have never had a problem with them.
