FH has a lovely pair of tendon boots similar to these (different brand):

but we took him out today and he managed to shred the neopreny/lycra at the bottom so they now don't offer full protection to him anymore.

Can you recommend me some new open fronted /tendon boots (have to be tendon not brushing) please? Possibly if they don't break the bank would be brill :p

Quick bit of info if it makes a difference, he would SJ and XC in them. He is a connie who has to wear FS boots as cob are not big enough but some then end up being too long as he is only 15hhh not 16!!

I bought some Tekna ones to use at home but they were too wide for mine, length was fine but they have ridges that should sit between the tendon and cannon bone but they came so far round they pressed on his cannon bone.

I really love my Tekna ones that I keep for shows, wipe clean and look smart- cheap too and you can get the fetlock boots aswell! Not sure how they'd fit on a connie though

I have the tekna ones on my connie they fit really well. He is 14.2 and wears pony size as the cob were too long. I like them as they are easly cleaned, look smart and are no that expensive :D

I have some Masta ones and some John Whitaker ones - I really like both, the Whitakers are nicer, but the Masta's are 'home boots'

I've got Eskadron tendon boots for my connie, he's 14.2hh and the full/horse size fits him well. Had them 2 years and still going strong with everyday use :)

I have Kentaur for everyday (hacking etc) and Tri-zone for smarts. Really rate both of them but if I had to buy again I'd go for the Tri-zones, even though they're more £££.

One thing to consider is what the front strap is like - most people quite rightly consider how effective the boot is at protecting the SDFT and DDFT but many forget that there is another big tendon which runs down the front of the cannon bone. IMO you should always use a wide (or 2 wide) elasticated straps to ensure you don't cause bruising etc. Consequently my old leather tendon boots with thin straps and buckles have been relegated to a box somewhere....

I have eskadron memo boots infront and eskadron flexi soft hinds(these are fab but VERY hard to get hold of) for shows, both in black. Ive had both eskadrons and whitaker tendon boots and don't really have any preference-depends where I can find a bargain!

Woof wear :) I use trizone overreach boots tho, and really like them. A lot of people I know use Veredus for show boots.

** I meant to say, I don;t recommend the William Funnell ones! I got a pair and the straps cracked quite quickly and the buckle seemed to slip around a lot.

I had a 15.2hh conniexTB and i had the Eskadron flexi soft for him (still using them on another horse) and the full fitted him fine ! They come up a treat in the washing machine and last for years! My mum thought that they were a replacement pair and couldnt believe it was the same ones!!
