Doing things like around the world and scissors. I remember doing them in lessons when i was younger (under 10), I know there was more but can't remember what they were.
Did/Does anyone else do these games?
 
I can remember them, and my daughter STILL does them when her instructor thinks it'd be a good laugh to see if a 13 year old 6' tall girl can actually be that agile! She can, although scissors is abit of an effort!
I can remember being told to face backwards, and dismount by sliding off your pony's bum!! And, jumping without reins or stirrups, with arms spread out!!Wonder what elf and safety would think of that now adays!
 
We had to touch the pony's ears, then the top of the tail, then reach over and touch right toe with left hand etc.

Never could manage scissors - I always slipped off!

Who else used to get on their pony by leapfrogging over their bottom?
 
Im wondering if it would be really childish too see if i can still them tomorrow

I remember jumping bareback, with just a headcollar!!

My instructor also teaches at Pony Club - she taught at camp last summer & threatened to ask her group to mount without girths. Apparently the DC went white - Health & Safety!! Can't believe how times have changed - shame!
 
Oooh yes, thread the needle! I tried around the world last year for the first time since my teens. It doesn't work well in a dressage saddle. I got stuck facing backwards and horse legged it, very weird cantering backwards around the school! (yes, I fell off...)
 
Blast from the past! problem is health and safety now.

I used to jump on my pony and gallop around the field, bareback, over jumps with just a head collar, sometimes without.
God help you if you fell off these days.
 
when i was at college studying equine management my riding instructor told us , it breaks health and safety rules to let "children" and any other paying riding customers to do that , they have to ruin all the fun, i remember camping out in a friends field getting up in the morning and getting on her 17.2 horse and galloping around the field bareback in a headcollar , no hat and slippers :P in pjs

Bareback jumping and jumping without reins and stirrups or jockey length stirrups
