Wanting to go to a local show that I can hack to but will be our first show so want to show in hand rather than ridden. canter work not up to a class yet. Can I hack over there in an in hand bridle safely? Or is about 10-15minutes away in walk.

Inhand bridles are not as strong as normal bridles and may snap under the pressure. I wouldn't!
If your horse is over 4 then you need to show in a ridden bridle anyway

As long as it fits your horse then no reason why not.
One thing to think about is what to do with your saddle etc when you are there. Our local agri show is about a mile from home - I walk the horse there if we are in an in-hand class so I'm already dressed in my showring finery too and carry just a brush in one pocket and a fiver and fags in the other!! We do our class and then walk home again, no extra stuff to remember to gather up and carry home.

Check the rules for your horse's breed what bridles are permitted in the showring. If you have a choice then go for whatever one enhances his looks best.

Ah, that's so much easier if you have an extra pair of hands.

In which case then just use whatever bridle the horse looks best in - if that's the in-hand bridle don't forget to take your leadrein and coupling.

Have a good day, all of you.
