I cant feel my heal when i ride in mine so it causes my heals to rise and i look a bit of a mess. They are very comphy though.

I would guess that as long as your stirrups are large enough for you to get your foot of quickly in an emergency then i would have thought they would be ok. But have never tried in honesty.

I wear my little mountain horse boots. They're massive so need big stirrups but are designed for riding and yard duties - they have a little tread and a small heel, and steel toes just in case neddy steps on my toes again!

I absolutely adore them and wouldn't change them for the world. I'm after the full length ones now as changing out of wellies into boots and chaps is just getting awkward. They are a bit heavy to get used to but I don't feel them much now, thicker socks make them feel less cumbersome

I ride in my shires muckers when hacking but if I am schooling I stick to normal riding boots as I can 'feel' the horse more.

Thanks..I think I'll try some. Think I need to get some with warm lining as my feet are always like blocks of ice, even in bed

The original muckers were designed to be ridden in.

The guide is, do they have a proper heel so your foot can slip right through the stirrup and they must not have a chunky tread that could make them catch in the stirrup. You also need to check that they fit correctly with your irons as they can be chunkier than normal boots.

My DH finds that he has to have bigger irons if he wears his mountain horse high riders rather than his regent show boots.
