Can you sedate too often?

I arranged today for my boy to be clipped on Wednesday..... so he will need to be sedated again with Domosedan gel. He was sedated on 24th October to be clipped (Domosedan again), on 12th December (equine dentist check up, vet sedation) and 22nd December (tooth extraction at vets, mega sedation as he fights it!) so I am a little bit worried about doing him again - is this stupid? He can't be clipped without being sedated incidentally, for the safety of all involved!

Horses are frequently sedated when injured, mine had numerous intravenous sedations, including an MRI which required two lots in one day and an op under standing sedation the following day, over a period of 3 months plus plenty of sedalin, it did him no harm and kept him and the people dealing with him safe, as long as your vet is happy to prescribe it you should not be concerned, it may make sense to try and plan next winter so he can have dental and clipping at the same time if possible, it would save you money and reduce the amount of days he spends sedated.

Yep that is my plan be positive - I'm annoyed with myself that I wasn't more organised this year, although I suppose the tooth extraction couldn't have been something I could really have foreseen. I will speak to my vets again on Tuesday to make sure they are happy, thank you :)

mines been sedated IV 3 times in 2 weeks for an eye problem with no ill effects, and I will sedate him with Domosedan tomorrow to get a good look at his eye for myself before vet comes Tuesday..
