Top photo was taken April/May time last year, when he was just coming back into work after 5 1/2 months box rest. Bottom photo taken today.

Can you see a difference between the two? Which areas still need work?

Comparing them I’m not seeing as much of a difference as it feels, but might be just me being incredibly picky and perfectionist.

I think he still needs more muscle over the back end (he’s always been a bit weak there) but lockdown means that we haven’t been able to get out to do as much fast work/hill work (live in the flat bit of Lincolnshire with mostly road hacking so no hope of proper hills near home haha).

Photos are difficult but he looks tighter in the belly, fuller below the hip bone, more muscle behind the saddle and right along the spine to fuller withers. I'd be happy with that until you can get hill work into him.

Thanks. It’s hard when they’re your own and I’m probably being hypercritical. We’d just got him to the stage he was rounding out on the back end (finally, after a lot of work) when he did his injury and had over 6mo off in total. He’s actually feeling by far the best he has in the 4 years I’ve had him, hence why I’m a little disappointed with the comparison

Usually at this time of year he’d be hunting or being boxed out for hill/fast work or to the beach to work in the sea, every weekend, but not at the moment for obvious reasons...

Much stronger neck in front of the withers, more muscle at top of hind leg, tighter abdomen. It is not huge but it is definitely there and going the right way.

Tighter tummy, better neck, much better muscling over his SI - I would be really pleased with that given the restrictions over the last year.
