an old fashioned string anti sweat rug? (Horse has static build up in anything fleece, and the mesh ones seem to get tight over the shoulders, need a rug on the top to actually dry the horse, and they don't last very well.) Any ideas please?

There’s a Facebook group called ‘free cycle horse equipment uk’ - try asking there. Everything on the site must be gifted but you can pay for postage if not within collecting distance. This is the type of thing I suspect is lurking at the bottom of a lot of people’s rug box!

I think you are going to be disappointed by the reality! The mesh ones hold their structure much better than string ones which used to stretch and pull tight on the shoulders. I would not bother with one now and go mesh everytime. Have you tried a drying rug? I love the cheapo ones from Decathlon. They are made of a chamois/dry cloth. I have never noticed any static build up with them. They absorb water really well which helps.

Thank you, there is a Decathlon about 25 miles away, will pop in and have a look when allowed to, of course! This horse is very odd with static, never known one like it!

I’ve got one I was just looking at thinking probably need to throw away! I think it’s a bit extra holey and probably shrunk over time. Imagine it’s 30 years plus old
