can you use a dressage saddle with shortened straps for showing? as i got an ideal 17 inch show saddle and it was too wide and looked short on my horses back , even though her GP is a 17 inch? i have seen a dressage saddle that looks like a show saddle and wondered if with shorter straps you would notice much difference? do all show saddles look smaller sat on a horse? thanks

Generally yes - but beware some of the "modern" dressage saddles that have deep seats and huge knee blocks, ride judges might not like them and they might not be very accomodating for larger gentlemen!

mainly local but with a few of the bigger shows, not quite county level funded yet! want it for ridden hunter, riding horse type classes, no this one is an "older" type, not a modern chunky thing? i dont do dressage but i have sat in a couple of the more modern sort and i dont like them!
