Just wondering as saw someone warming up using artifical aids which were then taken off before the test. I have never seen that done before so is it acceptable or not? Would have thought not but don't know for certain.
A while back when I was actually competing I spotted someone warming up on a very expensive looking horse in darw reins. I didn't care that the lady was a client of the livery yard where the competition was being held, rules are rules and I informed the secretary. The horse was not competing that day it turned out but was told to leave the school. I would do it again, when I start competing Tarquin I realise that I wont be able to use my trusty standing martingale and I would never flaunt the rules just for my benefit.
Don't want to cause a debate but just wondering why if the horse isn't competing it would bother you so much? If it was someone in my class I would be savage but if they were just there cause it is the livery yard etc it wouldn't even cross my mind to complain as didn't affect me.
It all depends. If the person was warming up in a seperate arena to the warm up area i.e. another arena, near lorry park area etc then it is at organisers discretion. Indeed as it is unaffiliated I dont understand why you feel that you would have to say something. At unaff level you should be quite happy to let them be ad gain experience. No harm done!
I think focussing on yourself rather than others at a competiton is the only way to move forward.
rules are rules though and are there for a reason, so if BD say you can't warm up in them so be it! same as for the rule whereby no one else can warm your horse up for you! What's the point of having rules if no one adhers to them!
I understand your point entirely, as a competitor of BE and BD on a regular basis. However, I think in instances at certain low levels of unaff dressage it is only up to the organiser and secretary to look and steward themself, and that maybe you should just ensure that you focus on your own personal competition and that you follow the rules. As a former steward of eventing It can be so difficult with people coming and complaining to you about something that we have not seen.
People are not allowed to break them especially at BD. BUT I thik you need to put this in to context. Were you competing? Did it cause you any harm?
The stewards and secretaries are the ones that should e doing a better job at observing warm ups. Was the warm up the designated area for all competitors?
Yes, On a livery yard that is also a show centre, there will be many arenas. i.e. a competiton arena, warm up arena and maybe one or two other schools left for the liveries at that yard.
If someone chooses to lunge their horse prior to going to a competition in a training aid (at home), and this would be unknown and acceptable. How can this be different from someone doing this in a 'competition unused' warm up area before entering the designated warm up area which then conforms to full rules.
probably because there would be a big time difference between at home and the competition? whereas if done in the warm up prior to competition there wouldn't be a big gap time wise?
Do you know me as you only seem to be commenting on my posts?

Because under BD rules, which this show was run under according to the OP, anyone, whether competing or not, is not allowed to do that! It's really quite simple.....
