cancer shrinking drugs, is there anything out there???

I have a 10 yr old German Shepard who has been diagnosed with a huge tumourous mass in his back. It seems to have come from the prostate and spread to all under his spine and pressing on everything else.
He feels he needs to wee all the time so the presure must be annoying.
He has had loads of anti biotics and is now on Norocarp x1 1/2 twice a day.
What else could he have?
Hes going to vets again tomo so will discuss with them any options. He is walking like he had dicky hips but they are fine its the mass thats interupting everything.
Any ideas??

To be honest I wouldn't put him through anything invasive or anything where there are going to be side effects if he is already uncomfortable, especially given his age, sorry, just my opinion, but I am sure your vet will be able to advise better.

Lots of hugs for you, we lost our GSD at 10 to a huge mass on her liver, although it was pretty much too late by the time we found out, at least you know what the problem is and can hopefully treat accordingly x
 
I thought it was strange that when my old minpin had a tumour on her bladder, the vets prescribed metacam to help reduce the size so she could pee. I had never heard of that before, unless it was just secondary swelling round the tumour that was in fact being reduced. Probably not helpful...sorry about your boy tho.

So sorry about your lad, and I'm afraid have no ideas to help you. I had my old GSD pts at 11 with cancer of the bladder which was spreading, at her age the vets and I decided not to pursue aggressive treatment. With her she very quickly went from being slightly uncomfortable to obviously in pain and I could not let her continue like that. I hope you are able to come up with some solutions when you speak to your vet, but please bear in mind the oft quoted saying "better a week too soon than a day too late".

Thankyou for your replys, we found out begining of sept and its got worse over the weeks. I think he is in some pain, I won't allow surgery as its too big and the outcome isn't great. I will pts if it needs doing, he won't suffer for the sake of it.
I pts my mare a year or so ago as she went very lame and had no hope of coming sound again.
My other dog is a year older, a dobey x gs and shes fighting fit bar a little incontinence.
My otherhalf is devestated, he isn't coping very well:(
