I'd like to try canicross with my young dog, however I've had to work hard to stop her pulling on the lead while walking (still a work in progress, but getting there) can anyone advise me if doing Canicross & encouraging them to pull while running, causes problems with normal lead walking?

Just use different equipment and commands.
I don't do canicross but my dog knows:
Heel: Shoulder at my left knee, look adoringly :p at my face, ignore all distractions. Lead off. Formal/competition heel.
Follow: Shoulder at my left or right knee, look anywhere. Lead on or off. This is the one I use for everyday lead walking.
HupHup: Pull like billy-oh into a fast trot. For showing.

I think making it distinct helps the normal lead walking.

never had a problem with canix or heel work, they just know.i think mixing up activities keeps the brain working :)

To be honest with one of mine it did, no matter what I did -I stopped doing it and it took a fair bit of work to get him to heel again. Quarries likes to do everything at 199mph anyway, Cani x just confirmed he could and not only am I not a strong enough runner these days for 30kg of that I also wanted a well behaved dog walking. The other dog was and is fine, I run one free and the other not these days-separately!

We have one harness for running and one for normal walks so they know the difference and when pulling is allowed!
