Some of you may remember me posting about my dog who is getting on a bit!
She is getting quite stiff and her back end is dipping- i suppose that she is changing her hind leg action to releave some of the pain.
I wondered if cortaflex or similar might be worth a try- it seems expensive but if it will help i would definatly give it ago.

I've given my old lad these:

They do seem to make him feel better.

Give New Zealand green lipped mussel excract a try.You can get them from any health food shop in tablet form. They cost roughly £4.00 for 60 tablets. The research done on the results is really good.

My lab has canine cortaflex and also canine inflamex. It is a devils claw supplement made by the cortaflex people and really works, she used to need metacam every day before I tried this.

I give my 15 yo Catahoula Drs. Foster & Smith Level 3 Joint Supplement and I believe it has kept her from having to be pts due to arthritis. Now that the weather is cold and damp I am giving her a rimadyl tablet daily also. I know rimadyl is supposed to be bad for the liver but at her age I think it is more important for her to have a good quality of life even if the rimadyl may shorten it a few months.

My Yorkie has a luxating patella which usually leads to arthritis in later life. He is only 22 months at the moment so I wanted to keep his joints well oiled. I put him on Canine Cortaflex (liquid) about a year ago, and his leg hasn't troubled him for 5 months now, so maybe it has helped.

my 8yr old lab gets Feedmark's agility in her food! i have found this too be quite good and she seems to be less stiff, it has quite good ingredients in it!!

I put my husband on human cortaflex for his knee and hips. After 3 months he came off of it and within a short time he was in real pain again. Worked for him so I can imagine it works for animals. I have a 16 year old horse who I do dressage with and I've got him on it. Preventative rather than cure as dressage is quite hard on the joints.

My mums 12 yr old mini-schnauzer started on cortaflex about 3weeks ago and hes so much better already. He can jump on and off her bed again (!) whereas before he could get on but not off. Hes much more 'spritly' in himself too.

I also take human cortaflex and it has worked really well for me aswell as i have mild arthritis in my knees but with the cortaflex i hardly ever get any pain in them now, even when its really cold.
