Canine Cutaneous Mast Cell Tumours - doesn't sound good

RE my post yesterday...

Dog is at vets now and i've spoken to OH and they think it might be cancer, they're going to operate on him this afternoon i think.

They've not specifically said it is the skin cancer but reading a little about it online it sounds just like it and a very high cancerous form which is 80% likely to have spread now too

Mast Cell Tumours are quite aggressive. I'm sorry I haven't read your previous post BUT if its in the cutaneous tissue thats better than it could be. If they are removing the mass today its good news!!

Re the spreading - in cases like this the internet can be spawn of the devil (honestly!!!) when we look up things we quite often get the negative cases and American sites which are often very different to the English.

I've seen lots of dogs have Mast cell's removed and go on to lead a full and happy life.

Haven't posted before in Doggie section, usually in NL but just wanted to say my IWS had a mast cell tumour removed 2 years ago. It was inside his top lip and was a little lump the size and appearance of a blackberry. He is now 8 years old and, touch wood, in good health. I know there is always a chance it could come back but so far, so good. Fingers crossed for a good outcome for you!

I was fearing the worst (as i think if you do that then anything else is better) and the vets said it is not that but was an allergic reaction to fox mange/mites...

Phew ! Still cost OH £200 though!

So doggy currently feeling a bit sorry for himself and walking around with a sock gaffa taped to one leg so he cannot scratch the sore
