Took my dog to the vet today cause he had a scrape on his knee, we think he may have got it trapped under the back door or something similar cause that seems to be his favorite place to lie down and you can not see through the door! Anyway, it went up like a baloon so off we went. Vet poked it and nothing but blood came out, so shes pretty confident that its just inflamed (so the usual anti-biotics/inflammatory and days wadge)

But what she was more concerned about was the size of his right testicle. It was huge compared to the left, and hard as a rock. I'll admit i was a bit silly and thought maybe it goes down when he....ya know...has play time!?

Anyway, he has to go back in a week to see if its down any, if not he is off for the chop.

WOW NEARLY 2000 views and no replies...so firstly I want to say I hope he's feeling better today...
A swollen testicle is not a good thing and you've done well to notice it..
In Italy we see the majority of male dogs are entire.... Many are referred to vets at age eight to be castrated because the testicles are swollen with a tumorous growth...the good thing is this is a fast, simple op and if attended to swiftly ,will remove the cancer before it has a chance to spread.
The op wil ask reduce his risk of prostate cancer....
My male is also entire but around eight yrs I may also consider castration as a preventative op ,to also give him many more healthy years.
Can you let us know how this pans out?

Yeh, would be reasonably concerned about an enlarged testicle - I'm nut overly familiar with cancers of that type but I've known a few dogs that I groomed that I've noticed it to the owners, and the next visit they'd been castrated so vet must have recommended it anyway.

There is a very easy solution.
Remove the testicles and get the abnormal one tested to see exactly whats going on and what your dealing with.there are a few different types of testicular cancer in dogs and advise given depends on type.some cancers can spread to the rest of the body so Id be pushing for removal and testing. It doesnt sound like its sore and infected so once his leg is better id get them out.
The vets probably just waiting to make sure the leg is healing and not infected before doing surgery.
