Cannock chase

I live near meriden so south of cannock.
Where would I go to ride in cannock .Where is safe to park the box and how easy is it to find your way round

We used to park at the Visitor centre in Marquis Drive and go on sponsered rides. Stick to the footpaths you cant go wrong really!

If you do go on Cancock Chase please make sure you stick to the tracks as there are a lot of old mining shafts running under it and its not really safe to go off them. Have fun if you go its fab

I would say everywhere but as Pidge has just told me lots of things have changed since I was there about 25 years ago!! Gone are the days where you could ride and ride and ride, hills, bogs, gallops, forestry, tree branches whipping around your head... We then just let the ponies find their own way back....ahhh memories...!!!

ah the memories, I still just mooch around Cannock Chase and tend to just head in the direction I want as before long I will always come across somewhere I know

Did you know you have to pay to park on Milford now

No way!!! Having said that we always had our horses near the chase so hence never needed to travel and park etc.. but pay to park.... phah!! I know they use to overcharge for icecreams and coke!! but parking...ummmmmmmm what next!! Then again having said that.. you try to find a place in London like Cannock Chase, Epping Forest is probably not bad but then you get EVERYONE in the summer going there... you have to ride at 6am or else have a bomproof horse!!
