I Cannot find DIY livery in my area of doncaster and it's driving me mad!

I've been looking for DIY livery for 1 horse around Bawtry, Haxey , Epworth , Westwoodside et al and most are full but I've been to look around so many yards, but it seems that so many are just totally rundown or unsuitable.

I've been to so many yards that have fencing so poor that a toddler could pull it down and one that wanted to put my big horse in a field that made a shetland look big !

No to mention the yard owners that want you to book down every time you want to come to the yard, and only use their farreir and physio, as well as having to book to use the arena at least 24 hours in advance in 15 minute slots on a weekly calendar !

Is it so hard to find a nice clean and quiet DIY yard, with individual turnout and safe fencing ?? or am I asking the impossible!

I drove past an 'Oak Farm Stables' in Finningley the other day. Not sure if it's a livery yard but it looked ok - might be worth asking about

Is it worth asking the secretaries of your local Riding and Pony Club if they know of anyone? I moved to an area and didn't like the big yard I was on and asked the secretary at a local show. She gave me the names of a couple of small places and I moved into one of them.

Is blythe too far for you_ there is a lovely DIY yard at hodsock priory and it does have vacancies at the moment. I was on the yard for 7 years- loved loved loved it. Lot's of off road hacking, a school, A show ground in hacking distance and the same people still run it. If i hadn't moved up north i would still be there now;)

Do I remember a stables at Misterton - on the road from Haxey to Gainsborough...bet the small tack shop there has closed now but they may know. Also swilliam may know if he is a local (I haven't lived in Bawtry since 1998) I was at school with a locally well known livestock farming and riding family from Austerfield and they had stables..but for the life of me I cant remember the name. Occasionally my dad has "put up" hard pressed equestrian folk (Belton) but he s only field and field shelter and it is lonely for horse and owner. Oh Ive had a rambly thought...coming off the motorway into Belton on left handside are stables (the place with double glazed UPVC windows in the hayloft roof) - might be worth asking there?

wench I'm really pleased to hear that - used to go in years ago. My local tack shop has just closed because it cannot compete with the internet - I'm part of a smaller group of people who love to ask questions and touch and see whatever product I'm about to buy..I am really pleased..might go back in next time I go home.
