Hating this mud,rain,snow,wind.. & everything else that comes with winter!!

So in summer, Do you feed you geegee's anything else apart from just grazing?? do you feed any hay or anything or feed?

No need to feed mine anything in Summer as both good doers. They just get a handful of Happy Hoof to have with their supplements.

Roll on Summer, not stopped raining here for 2 days and theres water everywhere...

3rd vote for this!!!
Ollie seems to get 99% there and then thinks to him self "I'm almost sound enough for the field! **** what can I bang my leg on today?? " then subsquently finds a wall to smash the poorly leg off to re-trigger the swelling :(
roll on summer :D

I think I prefer spring more but looking forward to summer also, although we'll soon be moaning about the heat and flies etc etc

Mine will just get a carrot in a bucket just so he thinks he's not missing
out while the old lady is fed xx

Our boy is out overnight in summer and in during the day. He has a slab of hay and a VERY SMALL feed when he comes in but often does not eat much of the hay. Last summer was his first with us and he did need to put on a little weight so may cut out the feed as he is nicely covered now. Will see how he goes. Just love the summer - minimal mucking out - long evenings to ride. We deserve some payback for the snow, wet, cold and dark evenings we have endured!

I can cope with the wind and rain, but I'm really fed up with the darkness now, this winter seems to have been very long... I've been sat on the sofa since October, gah!!!

Feeding - depends on how they look, I agonise over it as I have a veteran who has bute each day (will eat it in an apple) and two youngsters, and they are all very good doers.

Roll on summer indeed!

Yes I hate flies but boy am I fed up of the mud and wind.

I Don't feed in summer, they just go roaming and will leave a mineral lick in the field near trough... Can't wait!!

Spring is on its way - the snow drops are out and the paddocks that are being rested are definitely starting to green up here.

However this weather has just screwed up another weekend of horsey activities - hunting lost to high winds on Sat and roads flooded so couldn't get new horse to it's jumping lesson on sunday.....not impressed.

Once hunting is finished my 2 will be turned out 24/7 with haylage until the grass really comes through. This will then be cut down until they can survive on Dr Green until the Autumn. One will be in light work and the other will be competing but as is a good doer, and we have good quality grazing, doesn't need anything else.

No no no no no!
Flies...flies...more flies... constantly going over on your ankle as the mud is now rock hard and rutted...dragging water to the back end of the village and up the moors... suncream getting everywhere...more flies... being ridiculously hot but having to wear top, waistcoat to put phone in and then hi-vis on top so you melt into a puddle... sweating buckets under back protectors... taking your hat off and your hair is sodden and stuck to your forehead.

Really? Bring back the snow I say ;)

I just can't wait!! Grass, warmth, blue skies, lighter nights, no mud! Sigh. Is it just me or has this winter seemed reeeeaaallly long? Probably cos of all the bad weather we had back in december.

Can't wait to give my youngster a proper bath, and see what he's looking like under all that fur :)

My girl gets a token feed to mix her devils relief with everyday, just a handful of pony nuts or piece of bread but as they're both fatties they won't need anything else.
