I recently got a welsh a colt i have had him castrated its been about 3 weeks now but every time i turn him out he wont be catched it take hours of chasing, he lets you get so close then runs of, if anyone has any tips they wound be greatly accepted.

I'm lucky in that all of mine are saints to be caught but I have had problems in the past with other peoples horses. Last week a friend couldn't catch hers, he wasn't scared just being an ass. We got him into a smaller area and played bad cop, good cop!! Basically I chased him away and then allowed him to get to his Mum. Every time he tried to run away from her I herded him back in her direction. After 5 minutes he decided he had had enough and was caught!!

oldest trick in the book (after years of basta*d riding ponies: crawl on you hands and knees around your paddock holding your headcollar horses genuinly cant fathom this wierd ant like creature those humans morph into and cant resist a little poke with the nose they are truly bewildered and if you carry on and let them follow they will just stand and let you slip in right on!!!

He he lm. That has to be vision to behold. chezzabella if you go down that route you have got to vidoe it for us!! :D

aw its the ONLY way forward!! a new livery was a tad confused the other day though... :) i think i actually have a video somewhere let me looooooooook...

haha lm i had to do this the other day although so far not got to the point of crawling around i just croutch on the ground and wait until intrigue takes over...roughly 30secs!! Mine has head collar on so then i just clip on rope and voila!!

get a few of you together with elec poles and tape and just quietly set up a small area around him and just close in on him - we had to do this with our sec a we had, absolute nightmare to catch!!
Good luck!
ps only recommended if pony is not wild/very nervous as it may cause injury if he tries to run through the tape etc
